What’s on Your Life List?

18 Mar

There’s a list I think we all should have. It’s kinda silly, but then so is life.

It’s about your heart, and how it appreciates the world around you.

Not your mind . . . that cold gray blob of reason, analyzing and working things out and planning and thinking about buying more stuff, because it’s there dammit!  Okay, I still do this myself, too . . .  I don’t want to talk about it. It’s fine to enjoy those things, too. Just don’t forget to enjoy, well, Life!

This is about what makes you truly happy. You’d be surprised: It’s mostly little things.

I beseech you, make a list of these things and tack it up where you can see it. Life gets busy–it would be a shame to get to the end of it and realize you missed all the good stuff. (Hint: the good stuff are moments, the things you can take with you).

“Failure is never quite so frightening as regret.”

~Cliff Buxton in The Dish

Just to get you started, I’ll give you a peek at my list:. I’ve had it for 4 years now and I haven’t had to change it much. You’re welcome. =)

My Live Life List

* Dream of living in Paris.

* Skip stones.

* Play an instrument

* Ride your bicycle everywhere.

* Listen for the train whistles.

* Write in cafes.

* Believe you can fly … look at airplanes you might want to buy.

* Feel beautiful, because you are.

* Know that your own Amelie will come to you when the time is right.

* Believe in love (and True Love).

* You are amazing and special and the right friends will always be there to appreciate this.

* If the beat strikes you, then Dance!

* Be in love with being in love.

* Remember: What would Melva do in this situation?

* Empathy – always.

* Cry when you need to.
Laugh when you can.
Smile all the time.
Happiness is contagious and will make its way back to you.

* Live your life! Because you can do it better than anyone else can.

      This actually reminds me a song about a dude that got into a fight with his wife, went to the bar to cool off, and asked for “the good stuff”…. bar tender takes one look at him and says “you can’t find that here” … then goes on to detail what REALLY is the “good stuff”. After that, he shows the guy a pic of his wife who is now gone, lost her fight against cancer. Godz I’m tearing up just relaying it. Finally, bar tender says to the guy, go home, apologize, make it up to her because THAT’s the good stuff. ❤ ❤ (lots of paraphrasing … if i could remember the song, i'd post the link lol)

    Your story is so true. Losing sight of the important things just to win an argument, that’s the saddest thing of all. Being with someone who loves you . . . so much more than priceless. ❤

    That ‘s great advice Miki, everyone should have a list, and attempt at all times to make it smaller.
    Mine is WAAY to long to list and consists of all sorts of complexicaterated words, so instead I’ve decided I will help you with yours.

    Here are my thoughts:

    * Dream of living in Paris.
    ah ! yes I can help you with that ! (the dreaming part, not the living in Paris)

    * Skip stones.
    it’s actually easier to skip meals. just sayin.

    * Play an instrument
    I’m pretty sure you could beat a piano at chess.

    * Ride your bicycle everywhere.
    Why do you want to ride MY bicycle? get your own bike !

    * Listen for the train whistles.
    Training whistles is tough, I recommend training dogs, they don’t whistle, but they do fetch sticks.
    So if you like sticks, that would be a good one.

    * Write in cafes.
    That’s graffiti and I’m not sure the cafe owners would appreciate it, maybe this is why you don’t live in Paris?

    * Believe you can fly … look at airplanes you might want to buy.
    It costs nothing to look !, I prefer shoes, but I admit, they don’t really get quite as high as airplanes.
    however you CAN look at them without wondering how they work, mostly.

    * Feel beautiful, because you are.
    You should always feel beautiful, but remember to ask first, otherwise it’s assault.

    * Know that your own Amelie will come to you when the time is right.
    🙂 not going to argue with that one.

    * Believe in love (and True Love).
    🙂 or that one

    * You are amazing and special and the right friends will always be there to appreciate this.
    The ones that appreciate this ARE your right friends. Left friends are those you would rather forget, presumably, since you have left them behind.

    * If the beat strikes you, then Dance!
    If the beat strikes you, then you must be a match, or large workforce with a union.

    * Be in love with being in love.
    🙂 that’s good enough to be in there twice.

    * Remember: What would Melva do in this situation?
    Not really sure who Melva is, but I’m sure she has her own list, and probably her own bike.

    * Empathy – always.
    🙂 another salient point that I won’t argue.

    * Cry when you need to.
    Laugh when you can.
    Smile all the time.
    Happiness is contagious and will make its way back to you.
    This right here is why YOU make so many people happy Miki. you’re awesome.

    * Live your life! Because you can do it better than anyone else can.
    Well you certainly can’t live someone else’s life, and if you did, who would be Miki? and who would be her sister? it would be very confusing, I think we should stick with your suggestion.

      You’re such a nut. I love how reality runs away screaming whenever you take keyboard to screen. Well, not literally, or you’d have to buy a new keyboard. And screen. And be forced to take silly management training. Although I think your sillies may be in charge here. Just saying. Thanks for the lovely complimentary silliness. 🙂 ❤
